Steps to Become a Coach
All Coaches
1) Sign up as a volunteer (Even Returning Volunteers must do this step every Fall)
Go to the region website (you should already be on it) www.ayso65.org.
Click on the login/register link in the upper right of the homepage.
Once you are logged in it takes you to your My Account page. On the tabs to the left click on Volunteer, this will take you to "my volunteer roles"
From there click on the button on the right side "Find Volunteer Roles"
Select current season (e.g. - Fall 2022 Core), then click on view roles.
Find your age group and click on Head or Assistant coach
Follow the steps to completion and that will enter you into the coaches queue.

2) Complete Online Safety Training. (Safe Haven, CDC Concussion Awareness and Sudden Cardiac Arrest courses)
Login to your account as above, click the Volunteer menu on the left, and find the "AYSOU" button under your name on your Volunteer page.
On our training site, click "Training Library" on the left
Under "Safe Haven Courses" click "View Courses"
Complete the Safe Haven Online Course
Complete the CDC Concussion Awareness Online Course
Complete the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Online Course
Save your certificates (if the system allows)
3. Complete the SafeSport training online at: https://safesporttrained.org/?KeyName=tsVWe36Xa6PS3b5NzOug (Minors do not take SafeSport)
4. All volunteers must be fingerprinted via LiveScan. (Minors do not get fingerprinted)
Complete the application at this link,
https://www.applicantservices.com/AYSO
and take your email to a UPS store that does LiveScan.
Forward your receipt to [email protected] for reimbursement
5U, 6U, 8U, & 10U Coaches
5) Complete Age Appropriate Online Coaching Course
Login to AYSOU (as described above (the AYSOU button is under your name on your Volunteer page).
On our training site, click "Training Library" on the left.
Click "View Courses" under Coaching.
Select the appropriate course & Complete the course. (6U Coach - Online, 8U Coach - Online, or 10U Coach - Online + In Person Field Session)
6) Attend the appropriate Field Course (Register at AYSOU - Full In-Person Course)
12U Coaches
5) Complete the online 12U Coach Training Pre-Course (Part 1) -Online at AYOSU
See instructions under 3 above
6) Attend the 2-Day, 12U Classroom & Field Session (Register at AYSOU - Full In-Person Course)
14U, 16U & 19U Coaches
5) Complete the online course at AYSOU (See instructions under 3 above)
Intermediate 14U Pre-Course (Part 1) -Online
Advanced Coach Pre-Course - Online
6) Attend the Intermediate (14U) or Advanced (16U & 19U) Coach In Person Course
14U requires prior U12 experience
16U-19U requires requires prior Intermediate (14U) coaching experience.

How old do I have to be to coach?
You must be at least 18 years old to be an AYSO coach.
