1. Sign up as a volunteer
Login to this website (click the LOGIN button at the top right)
If you don't already have an account, click REGISTER NOW
Click "Volunteer" on the menu on the left
Complete forms for the current season (e.g. - Spring 2018 Core)
NOTE - you may have to click "Show More" at the bottom of the list of Opportunities to find "Vol Reg Referees & Board - MY18"

2. Complete the Safe Haven and CDC Concussion Awareness courses online  
Login to  AYSOU (using your username/password for this website)
Under "My Courses":
Complete the Safe Haven Course
Complete the CDC Concussion Course
Print your certificates

3. Attend one training course:
    To referee 6U and 8U:
    Register for and attend the "8U Official" Course (AYSOU  under Live Courses)


    To referee 10U and above (and to earn referee points):
    a. Complete the Online Regional Referee Training Course (Details below on this web page)
         Email [email protected] for voucher to cover cost of course
Login to  AYSOU (using your username/password for this website)
Under eCommerse, locate and purchase the course with the voucher
Under My Courses, select "Regional Referee Training" & Complete the course.

    b. Register for and attend the "Regional Referee Online Companion Course" (AYSOU under Live Courses). 
        The Online Regional Referee Training course (Step a above) must be completed prior to attending the classroom portion.

Frequently Asked Questions 

Q: Is there an age restriction?
A: Yes, youth referees must be at least 12 years old, and may referee games 2 years below them (e.g. - U10 for a 12 year old)

Q: Do I need to pre-register for a course? 

Q: What should I bring to the course? 
A: Bring your volunteer forms, Safe Haven & Concussion  certification and legal ID. Also, you’ll need paper and a pen/pencil for taking notes. We’ll provide you with course materials. 

Q: What if I am late arriving to a course? 
A: Punctual attendance is critical. Late arriving students may be asked to attend another course

How to use AYSOU for Training

Take Your Online Coach Courses At
The AYSO University

Starting in 2017, is the place you will complete your online training courses. Some of the mandatory classes (Safe Haven, CDC Concussion) are free. But the Online Basic Referee Course costs $7.

 IMPORTANT: Region 65 NEVER expects it's volunteers to have to pay for the classes we mandate you take. Region 65 will pay for your class.

Here is what you need to know to ensure you get to keep your hard earned cash in your own pocket.

  • Contact the Referee Administrator [email protected], and ask for a voucher.  You must already be registered for one of the live Regional Referee Online Companion courses.
  • Your Division Coordinator will provide you with a special code. That's your voucher. Do not lose it. It's just for you. No-one else.
  • Go to and login with the same credentials you use for
  • Click My Courses. Anything you see in there is either free or already paid for.
    • The mandatory Safe Haven and Concussion courses will always be there and are free to take.
    • If you do not see the Regional Referee Course in My Courses then click eCommerce.
  • Find the Regional Referee Course and click the See Details button to the right of it.
  • Click Buy Now
  • Enter your name and address on the Billing Information page. You will not be asked for a credit card number.
  • Click Review Order.
  • In the Gift Voucher field, enter the voucher code that your Referee Administrator provided you with and click Apply
  • Click Place Order Now
  • Click My Courses. You will see your newly purchased class. Now just complete it.

At the end of the course you can optionally view and print your course's eBook. You may need to download an app to your laptop or mobile device in order to view it. Or you can view it through your browser. Follow the instructions provided to you at the time.

To view the courses you have completed, click Transcripts. Then click Click Here For Your Transcript History.
