1. Sign up as a volunteer (Even Returning Referees must do this step every Fall)
Login to this website www.ayso65.org (click the LOGIN button at the top right)
If you don't already have an account, click REGISTER NOW
Click "Volunteer" on the menu on the left
NOTE - you may have to click "FIND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES" at the top right
"MY23 Board & Referee Volunteer Registration 23/24".
Complete information forms for the current season
If you are not a minor - Reply to the email from Sterling to approve your Background Check.
2. Complete the Safe Haven, CDC Concussion Awareness and Sudden Cardiac Arrest courses online
Login to your account as above, click the Volunteer menu on the left, and find the "AYSOU" button under your name on your Volunteer page.
On our training site, click "Training Library" on the left
Under "Safe Haven Courses" click "View Courses"
Complete the Safe Haven Online Course
Complete the CDC Concussion Awareness Online Course
Complete the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Online Course
Save your certificates (if the system allows)
3. Complete the SafeSport training online at: https://safesporttrained.org/?KeyName=tsVWe36Xa6PS3b5NzOug (Minors and 6U/8U Officials do not take SafeSport)
4. All volunteers must be fingerprinted via LiveScan.
(Minors do not get fingerprinted. Neither do 6U/8U Officials)Option A: Register and attend a live event, where Region 65 will pay your fee.

5. Attend appropriate training course:
To referee 6U and 8U:
Training Library, Refereeing (click View Courses), "8U Official Course - Online"
OR
To referee 10U and above (and to earn referee points):
a. Complete the Regional Referee Training Course (this is part 1 of 2) THIS STEP IS NOT REQUIRED IF YOU ATTEND THE ONTARIO COURSE

b. Register/Attend Regional Referee Companion Course. (This is part 2 of 2 - an in-person course)
Register for the classroom session:
Login to your account as above, click the Volunteer menu on the left, and find the "AYSOU" button under your name on your Volunteer page.
On our training site, click Training EVENT,
1) Enter "Regional Referee", in the Courses Search bar and click "New - Regional Referee - Online + In Person Companion Course"

1) Remove the Region 65 Filter
2) Enter "Regional Referee", in the Courses Search bar and click "Regional Referee - Online + In Person Companion Course (2 Part Bundle)"
3) Adjust the location and distance to your preference (I use 91730, and 25 or 50km)\
The Online course (Step a above) must be completed prior to attending the classroom portion (EXCEPT ONTARIO).

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is there an age restriction?
A: Yes, youth referees must be at least 12 years old, and may referee games 2 years below them (e.g. - U10 for a 12 year old)
Q: Do I need to pre-register for an in-person course?
A. Yes! YOU MUST REGISTER TO RECEIVE CREDIT FOR CLASS.
Q: What should I bring to the course?
A: You’ll need paper and a pen/pencil for taking notes. We’ll provide you with course materials.
Q: What if I am late arriving to a course?
A: Punctual attendance is critical. Late arriving students may be asked to attend another course
